Mrs. Ginn’s First Grade Newsletter – February 11, 2013

Don’t forget our Pennies for Pads!  Ipad Fundraiser that is going on now.  Please send in any loose change you can spare for the next two weeks.  Thank you!

Your child needs to send in their Valentine’s box and valentines by or on Thursday.  Don’t forget to send in your assigned item for the party!

Reading and Phonics:

·        We will be focusing on Valentine’s Day this week. We will be reading many different books like Valentine’s Day, The Biggest Valentine Ever,  The Old Lady who Swallowed a Rose, Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse, Love, Splat, Froggy’s First Kiss, Clifford’s Valentine and many others!

·        We will be studying long o: oa and ow.

·        We will review Author’s Purpose.  

Grammar:

·        We will be learning about adjectives for size.

Spelling:

Please practice daily! We will have a spelling test on Friday.

·        boat, road, snow, row, yellow, loaf, coat, soap, blow, pillow, once, wild

Math:

This week in math we are working on adding two-digit numbers

*We have started our timed addition math facts.  Please make sure your child practices at home.  We are working on plus 4. 

Science:

·        Dental Health
