Mrs. Ginn’s First Grade Newsletter – November 5, 2012

Yates is having a canned food drive this week for the Caring Place.  Please send in nonperishable canned foods to donate.  Thank you!

 

 Reading and Phonics:

·        We will be learning about Elections and Thanksgiving this week. We will be reading many different books like Grace for President, Duck for President, The First Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Thankful World, Me and on the Map and many others!

·        We will study the long e sound this week. 

·        We will learn about sequencing and compare and contrast.

Spelling:

Please practice daily!  We will have spelling test on Friday.

Spelling Words:

·        be, feet, he, see, we, green, me, she, tree, week, some, family

Math:

This week in math we are working on subtraction to 20.

Please work with your child at home on their addition math facts.

Language Arts:

·        This week we will be studying nouns in sentences.

Social Studies:

·        Elections, Thanksgiving and map skills.

*First grade Thanksgiving Feast November 16.

*Thanksgiving Break is November 19-23.
