Mrs. Ginn’s First Grade Newsletter – November 12, 2012

 

 Reading and Phonics:

·        We will be learning about the traditions of Thanksgiving and turkeys this week. We will be reading many different books like Plump and Perky Turkey, The Littlest Pilgrim, The Great Turkey Race!, Thanksgiving Turkey, Turk and Hunt and many others!

·        We will study the sounds of y this week. 

·        We will learn about sequencing and compare and contrast.

Spelling:

Please practice daily!  We will have spelling test on Friday.

Spelling Words:

·        my, by, try, any, body, fly, cry, lucky, silly, puppy, things, always

Math:

This week in math we are working on subtraction to 20.

Please work with your child at home on their addition and subtraction math facts.

Language Arts:

·        This week we will be learning about verbs (action words).

Social Studies:

·        Thanksgiving

*First grade Thanksgiving Feast November 16.

*Thanksgiving Break is November 19-23.
